I was 15 years old when I purchased my very first Canon DSLR camera and portrait lens. It was a dream come true and I honestly couldn’t believe I had this beautiful equipment in my hands. I was so excited that I forced my not so willing little sister to pose for me outside while I took photo after photo.
I want to share with you the perfect, high quality and affordable camera equipment to start out with as a beginner photographer.
I have two camera bodies I want to suggest. The first one is a DSLR and not full frame.
Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR. I started out with a Rebel camera when I was younger and wanted to just learn. It takes some fantastic images and is a sturdy camera. Perfect to learn on!
The second camera body I want to recommend is the Canon EOS 6D DSLR This full frame camera body is absolutely amazing! It was meant to replace the 5D Mark II at a cheeper price. The biggest difference between the Mark II and the 6D is the materials it’s made out of. There’s more plastic vs metal in the 6D which is why it’s more affordable. I highly recommend this camera if anyone is wanting a more professional camera for a good price.
The starter lens that I would recommend for portraits has to be without a doubt the Canon 50 mm f/1.8. This lens is absolutely amazing for the price! It has such clarity, beautiful color and the aperture speaks for itself. This is the perfect lens for any beginner photographer!
And there you have it! The equipment that I highly recommend any beginner photographer to purchase. And they are all affordable!
